“Mentor: Someone whose hindsight can become your foresight”
Mentoring challenges and rewards its participants. The importance of the mentor is highlighted by the experience of Jim Collins, celebrated author of best selling books like “Built to Last” and “Good to Great.”
Collins talked about how as a young man and as a virtual nobody, he would see Peter Drucker for advice. Drucker welcomed him and became his mentor. He would be generous in sharing with Collins ideas that eventually helped him succeed in his field of endeavor. And just minutes before he closed his talk Collins looked intently at the audience and asked this question: “How can you pay back a mentor?”
His answer? “Go out and mentor others.”
The Drucker School is proud to offer mentoring that reflects the Drucker philosophy. The program is carefully designed to match each first year MBA and MFE student with an Alumnus who has compatible professional and personal interests.
